How Ben 10 and Spiderman Caught Kid’s Psyche: What Soccer Marketing Can Learn

If you want to reach out to parents, market to children. Parents often have pre-established ways of doing things. They have acquired these shapes over a long period of time and it can be difficult to change them. But their kids can drag them into doing things they normally wouldn’t even think about. Has your son ever dragged you or made your life unbearable because of Spiderman, Superman or these days John Cena and his cousin Ben 10?

You must have heard of Spiderman. In my neck of the woods, the Spiderman movies are not that common, but the character is very strong in children’s minds. Walk into any nursery or elementary school across the country, you’re sure to find a Spiderman keepsake. From T-shirts to balls and all kinds of toys. It all starts with some children introducing the character at school and imitating his movements. The character soon realizes, the whole school is besieged.

There’s Ben 10. Ben 10 isn’t well known as Spiderman among the old folks, but there’s a TV series about him on Cartoon Network. Ben 10 is a boy the age of most preschoolers. He always moves with his cousin, I suppose, and his grandfather. They go to a mysterious land, often under attack from baddies. To his advantage, Ben 10 has a magic clock that turns him into a mysterious character depending on the demands of the situation. Ben 10 successfully fights against these bad guys.

The Ben 10 series has so captivated kids that at every twist and turn you see the kids showing off their appeal. But, the children do not have their own money to buy this attraction, they have surely fooled their parents. Some parents are known to be throwing Ben 10 theme parties. So far this character has become popular.

For any team looking to catch those old men who don’t go to the stadium, look no further than the kids. How would you get an old rugby fanatic into a football game if it weren’t through his son? Think about it? Visit schools, start programs there. It could be reading, health, anything. It is part of the life of young souls. Give them gifts. Very soon your football club will become Spiderman, Ben 10 and John Cena in the lives of these children.

One important thing to remember is that soccer or football (as it is called across the Atlantic) is a game that enhances the lifestyle, physique and fitness of children. It could even become a child’s calling in life. It is not junk food, so in most schools you will be welcome.

These kids will cajole their parents in stadiums. You will hit two birds with one stone. You will make the old men enter the stadium and most of the time you will get a fan for life in this kid. If you sponsor every elementary school and preschool in your district, you will never play an empty stadium again. Your fan base will grow, merchandise will improve, and sponsors will find their way to you.
