Lost time is a controversial fact told by some people along with close encounters in the midst of UFOs and alien abduction phenomena. The expression “lost time” refers to a gap in conscious memory that recounts a precise period in time. The vacuum can last from several minutes to a couple of days. The memory of what happened during the lost time is often recovered through hypnosis or in the course of sleep.
Lost time is controversial because, apart from skepticism in UFO events, it is closely related to other matters of dispute, such as recovered memories and hypnotic suggestion. Which means that the memory of the event, real or imagined, is so disturbing that the mind suppresses it. You can no longer waste time without a real kidnapping. There have been several cases of people testifying that they have wasted their time simply by being too close to a UFO craft. This phenomenon could potentially be defined through physics since Einstein’s theory of relativity relates that time is relative and that time travels slower in the company of a gravitational field. It has been shown in many UFO sightings that UFO craft can possess a strong gravitational field and possibly make time manipulation conceivable to nearby observers.
Lack of time is regularly mentioned as a manifestation of multiple personality disorder. A time wasting-like event can occur while listening to binaural beats intended to cause altered states of consciousness.
One of the most infamous cases of missing time comes from Betty and Barney Hill, an American married couple who ascended to cult status after they claimed to have been abducted by aliens for more than two days on September 19 and 20, 1961.
The story of the pair, frequently dubbed the Hill Abduction and sometimes the Zeta Reticuli Event, was that they were the victims of an alleged UFO abduction or more commonly known as alien abduction. This was the first public account of an alien abduction, which later became the best-selling publication of 1966 called The Interrupted Journey. On the evening of September 19, 1961, the couple were returning to Portsmouth after a vacation in upstate New York, including stops in Ontario and Quebec. It is said that south of Groveton, New Hampshire, they observed a bright point of light in the air. At first, they thought they were seeing a shooting star, only it rose and stopped approaching the gibbous moon. Betty, whose sister had told her that she had encountered a flying saucer several years earlier, watched the entity through binoculars as it traveled across the moon’s surface emitting multi-colored lights.
Near the location of Indian Head, the massive ship quickly plummeted toward the Hills’ car, prompting Barney to immediately stop in the middle of the road. The craft allegedly descended to approximately 70 to 100 feet above the vehicle and filled the entire field of the windshield through which Betty was looking. Using binoculars, Barney claimed to have seen eight to eleven alien figures peering through the openings of the UFO, appearing to observe them. The one prominent figure kept appearing to look at Barney and relayed a message to him to “stay where he is and keep looking”.

On November 25, 1961, NICAP representatives CD Jackson and Robert E. Hohman interviewed the couple at length.
Having studied an earlier report on the incident, Jackson and Hohman asked the Hills a lot of questions. One of his main queries was about the duration of the trip. Neither Webb nor the Hills realized that although the trip should have taken around 4 hours, they did not arrive at their residence until 7 hours after their departure. When Hohman and Jackson reported this disparity to the Hills, the couple were stunned, with no explanation for the missing 3 hours. The report documented that despite all their attempts, the Hills were unable to recall anything of the 35-mile stretch between Indian Head and Ashland.
This is just one documented case of a lack of time that defies explanation, and it is amazing how many cases of this strange phenomenon have been recorded. Whether what individuals are experiencing is actually connected to alien spacecraft or a psychological experience continues to elude rational explanation.
