5 digital product ideas to sell online

Digital products are the fastest, easiest, and most cost-effective products to create. A digital product is something that a customer can instantly download to their computer when they purchase it. It can be a report, an e-book, a video series, an online tutorial, or even a membership website.

The biggest advantage when creating digital products to sell online is that once you create them, you can sell them over and over again. To find new ideas for digital products, you don’t have to reinvent the wheel. You just have to figure out unique ways to make it roll better.

1. Ask your customers

How do your customers like your current products? Is there anything you would like to see more of? Send a simple online survey to people in your database. Ask them what their current problems are and where they are struggling. You’ll probably see one or two common themes that come up in the responses. Use that information as a guide to create and sell a new digital product.

2. Turn physical products into digital products

Are there ways to convert one or more of your physical products into a digital offering? For example, if you sell fashion accessories, could you create a video course on makeup tips? However, if you sell fitness equipment, could you create an e-book on weight loss? How can you optimize your product or a service using digital media?

3. Take a look at your competitors

Find other businesses in your niche and see what they are doing to promote your business. What digital products do you offer? What does your audience like most about your products or services? How can you apply those likes to your products or services?

4. Use social networks

Social media marketing can expose your business to a whole new audience. Create a free ebook or report that provides value and distribute it on social media and ask people for feedback. As you get feedback, you’ll see what questions come up, and you’ll be able to create a follow-up version with more details for people to buy.

5. Interview an expert

You don’t have to be an expert in your chosen niche to create a digital product. But experts can be found and you will know who they are. Ask them if they would be up for interviewing on a particular topic in your industry. Tell them you want to create a digital product (ebook, video, report, etc.) from those interviews. The advantage for the expert will be the exposure they will get from being included in your product. The upside to you is that people in your niche will want to know what the experts are saying. It’s a win-win!
