A Brief History of Pride Mobility

In the world of home mobility products, there are some names that are almost always mentioned for their commitment to quality. One such company is Pride Mobility Products Corporation. They have created many innovative and reliable designs as they develop mobility-related products such as stairlifts, power wheelchairs, and electric mobility scooters.

Pride Mobility actually evolved from an existing family business, and in 1986 Pride began to focus solely on the production of stairlifts. In the years that followed they became known for their well-crafted products and affordable prices. In 1992, Pride Mobility expanded its operations and began producing electric mobility scooters. Their goal was to provide fully functional and completely reliable adult mobility scooters that are stylish and elegant. They also offered accessories for their products and began to build a large number of satisfied customers.

In 1996 the Jazzy was born. To date, the Jazzy represents one of the best manufactured power wheelchairs on the market. One of the main factors in Jazzy’s success is the patented center drive system that is incorporated into almost all of their power chairs. The central wheel drive system increases stability and greatly increases manoeuvrability. The Jazzy is still available today and is perhaps one of the most popular and well known power chair brands ever made.

As Pride Mobility continued to expand, they realized there was a real and pressing need for highly specialized, high-tech mobility products. This includes rehabilitation-oriented products and products for people with special needs. In 2000, Pride created a division dedicated exclusively to meeting these needs. The result is some of the most reliable, high-tech home medical equipment available today. From pediatric power chairs to a full line of alternate controls, Pride’s goal has always been to improve the lives of those with mobility issues.

In 2006, Pride Mobility Products celebrated its 20th anniversary. As always, the customer remained the overwhelming priority at Pride. They decided to take a strong stand and challenge the mobility industry to comply with demanding legislative changes. Pride spearheaded initiatives in Washington, DC that ensure that Americans who need mobility products can have access to these products. They also released the Jazzy Select which is the most advanced Jazzy to date. Marking the 10th anniversary of the Jazzy, he combined acting with contemporary flair and the end result was an incredible masterpiece.

Pride Mobility has constantly evaluated, updated and refined its mobility products with the consumer in mind. They have also done many acts of public service, such as providing funds to local communities, the Red Cross, Boy Scouts, and many others. Pride and its employees dedicate funds and time to, among many others, the American Heart Association, the MS Society, and the ALS Foundation. This continues with the company’s credo that puts the customer, its employees and the community first.
