I was listening to coach/business guru Brian Tracy the other day and made an interesting comment towards the end of his speech on the subject of achieving success: “…and remember that you could be just one skill away from doubling your income. .. “

What makes a person valuable in the market? The answer to this question is a simple word according to guru Jim Rohn: Skills. You may have all the college degrees and whatnot, but if you lack the necessary skills, at the end of the day you are not that valuable on the market.

A personal story: I don’t like Google’s PPC program. I never had the patience to learn it. A few months ago a client approached me with a social media marketing project. I took the project and about two weeks after I started he said he would be willing to pay me more if I could also run a PPC campaign for him and if not he would find someone else to run the PPC campaign. It is never good to lose a customer. So I went and studied PPC very quickly with a tutor and was able to run a successful PPC campaign for this client. Now that I have added a new skill to my services, my services have become more valuable to the market.

What is creativity? As Brian Tracy explains: Creativity is getting better. Ask yourself every day: What am I doing to improve things, areas of my business? What new skills am I adding? What new skill will I learn today?
