Be part of the ‘Event’ – Ful Gatlinburg

Gatlinburg is a city that believes in celebrating life, its customs, traditions, and its people. Locals have a packed calendar of events throughout the year that celebrate all aspects of nature and the southern way of life. People expect to meet and have a good time. The events correspond to the respective season, and the following year’s event list is planned in advance. If you can make the trip, visit Pigeon Forge, which is quite close to Gatlinburg. This place is home to a fantastic amusement park simply called Dollywood, which has four festivals held throughout the year. This is a unique festival held in Tennessee and people travel from far and wide to be a part of the fun and entertainment. Free gospel concerts, many food stations, entertainment activities and acts especially for children, performances by world famous companies and a tribute to the spirit of Christmas are some of the special events that are organized. Dollywood believes in paying homage to the many arts and crafts that have survived for so many years, and you can shop for souvenirs and other display pieces at the many themed shops you’ll find here.

In the fall season, locals prepare for the Smoky Mountains Harvest Festival, which also has other events. Don’t forget to visit the Gatlinburg Craft Fair, which starts in October. Artisans and other talented artisans show off their talents at the more than 200 booths, can customize a one-of-a-kind piece for you, and stay true to southern traditions. Gatlinburg is also the official place to celebrate Veterans Day, and many activities honoring the nation’s Veterans take place here. Winter arrives and the city prepares for the arrival and celebration of Christmas. In fact, Gatlinburg continues its winter festival celebrations for four months and also hosts some must-see events. Members of the Great Smoky Arts & Crafts community display their work in a special arts and crafts show and sell their works to the public. This is a great place to pick up gifts for loved ones. Don’t be surprised if you run into storybook characters, carol singers, or other street performers when you’re here. They are all part of the Winter Magic Tunes and Tales entertainment.

Be a part of the festivities by supporting the Fantasy of Lights Christmas Parade, which includes great music, marching bands and locals taking to the streets. There is no better way to welcome in the New Year than by being part of a party that starts at 11:00 pm, and where fireworks and music celebrate the joy of entering a new year. In the spring, Gatlinburg continues the fun and revelry with an unusual event called the Holly and Shamrock Parade. Hundreds of Santas, goblins, reindeer and goblins line the streets in a colorful parade. If you visit the community Arts and Crafts show, you can purchase wonderful pottery, woodcarving display pieces, candles, and paintings from the many booths and stalls set up here. This show does justice to the heritage of the city. Gatlinburg wakes up on Easter morning with a church service held in the Ober Gatlinburg at 7:00 am. You’ll also get a first-hand view of the beautiful sunrise. Highland dancing, haggis treats, whiskey tasting, bagpipe contests, food and other stalls are all part of the entertainment at the Scottish Festival and Games, which takes place in May. The Gatlinburg Festival of Fine Arts features the works of more than 50 artists and other artisans, who display their work for visitors. Cash prizes, great food and music will keep you entertained.
