Keep your hair weave or hair extensions on vacation

Hair armor on vacation…

The snow has finally thawed and the summer vacation season is here. Whether you’re heading to South Florida, sailing to a Caribbean island, or traveling abroad, fabulous hair is a necessary accessory to accompany your bikini body. After months of working towards a perfect body, why ruin your look with a baseball cap, a scarf, or worse yet, a scrungie? (Oh!)

The southern beaches will be very hot and humid this year. You can count on temperatures of 90Ëš with high humidity; this will be a killer for your relaxed hairstyles. The best way to deal with this is to get a wet wavy hair weave (sewn in). The maintenance is surprisingly low, after cleaning and towel drying your hair, you can wear it wavy. If you want to look chic for a night of dancing, once your hair dries, you can straighten it with a flat iron or use flexible curlers for a voluminous spiral look. You can go from the pool to the nightclub with a minimum of time spent on your hair, after all, you are on vacation!

I know what you’re thinking… after spending so much money on travel arrangements. Who has money for a sewn fabric? Answer: You can request The Ultimate Hair Weave Guide from Amazon for step-by-step instructions on how to properly install and maintain your own hair weave. It’s a lifesaver. I used this process last year while traveling abroad and was the only one in my group who looked as fabulous on the flight to Europe as I did on the flight home. After the fourth day of our ten day trip, everyone else was wearing baseball caps and scarves. And let’s face it, there’s no way to look sophisticated in a baseball cap.

Take a look at the following tips to help maintain your holiday hairstyle:

1. Get your hair wet before swimming. The best way to protect your hair from bleaching and drying damage that salt water and chlorine can cause is to saturate your hair with water and add a coat of conditioner before you get in the water. Hair can only absorb a certain amount of water, so it is better if it is not chlorine or salt water.

two. Clean your hair immediately after taking a bath. You can’t just remove excess water from your hair after swimming. Both salt and chlorine can strip hair of essential lubricants. Make sure you wash your hair with a conditioning shampoo, or sometimes I skip the shampoo and do a co-wash (conditioner-only cleanse) to keep your hair from drying out further. I absolutely love Mixed Chicks Leave-In Conditioner, even though I’m not a “mixed girl”, the hair on my head is most likely “mixed”.

3. Air dry instead of blow drying. Frequent blow-drying can be very harsh on hair.

Four. Sleep with a silk or satin scarf. This will prevent breakage and make styling easier the next morning.

Have a good trip!
