MXL 007 USB Microphone Review!

Looking for a good and inexpensive USB microphone? There are a few to choose from in the under $ 150 range that can produce studio-like quality sound. One of them is Marshall’s MXL 007 USB microphone.

This is a stereo microphone, operating at 44.1 kHz and 48 kHz for rich, smooth sound. Obviously this is important for musical vocalists, but it’s also great for instrumentalists, interviewers, announcers, and podcasters.

Because the MXL USB 007 does not require an xlr device, you can simply plug it directly into your laptop’s USB port and take it to a park, a friend’s house, a field meeting, or the car.

Many reviews compare the Marshall MXL 007 USB Microphone to studio condenser mics in the $ 500 + range. The microphone’s large gold-diaphragm capsules (two), along with low-noise electronics and state-of-the-art digital conversion techniques, help produce a final sound that closely resembles that of a professional recording studio.

The MXL USB 007 can be purchased both online and at your favorite music store.

I personally made the switch from buying stereos offline to getting my stuff online. It all depends on your personal preferences, but I have some reasons to support my own preference.

  1. Offline stores don’t have enough competitors to cut prices as much as online stores do. This is because your local music store has maybe five or ten music stores in town to compete with, while online stores have hundreds of competitors.
  2. I’m not a big fan of sales tax!
  3. As part of the spirit of competition, many online retailers offer free equipment shipping.
  4. I don’t have to leave the house or be pressured by a salesperson.
  5. I can buy in many stores in a very short period of time, without wasting time or gas!

So that’s my little spiel on the benefits of buying your gear online, but I’m digressing …

If you want a microphone that produces rich, professional sound, the MXL 007 USB Microphone is definitely worth considering.

In all my personal “homework” on USB capacitors, I’d say that the MXL USB 007 actually ranks first in its price range, closely followed by the Blue Microphones USB Snowball Mic and the Audio Technica AT2020 USB.

As always, I encourage you to do your own homework to find the best quality instrument at the most reasonable price.

In conclusion, I will say that the MXL 007 is certainly a great investment for the serious home musician, podcaster, or anyone else who believes that portability and low cost should not compromise on production quality.
