The easiest way to straighten your hair with a hair dryer

Many women have a preconceived idea of how they should straighten their hair with a blow dryer, but there’s more to doing it than just getting a brush and blow dryer.

The first step is to make sure your hair is washed and conditioned. It is very important that the hair is conditioned because using a hair dryer or any hot appliance dries out the hair and promotes hair damage. Conditioned hair also helps provide a smoother hairstyle. Hair must be damp. Towel dry hair by squeezing excess water from hair with towel. Do not rub the hair with the towel as this can create tangles.

Next, you’ll want to coat the hair with a serum. The main approach is to place the serum on the ends of the hair and not as much as on the top of the head. If you put too much serum on the top of your head, your bangs will look greasy.

Then you’ll want to pre-dry your hair a bit to remove any extra moisture. Removing moisture will help you save time during straightening. To do this you just have to dry the hair with your fingers. Pull up at the root just to allow a little movement and air to enter.

The next step is to work on the section of hair with a round brush. The size of the brush you use is determined by the amount of curl you want. For more curl, use a smaller brush. You want to make sure you take a section of hair that is roughly the size of your brush. Not much wider and not much thicker than the brush. Take a section of your hair and pull it out. Meanwhile, take your hair dryer with a nozzle attachment on the end and aim the air down the shaft while gently pulling the brush towards the ends of the hair. This will smooth the cuticle. Continue on the same section until completely dry. If the section is slightly damp, it will become frizzy again.

Now cut the rest of the hair away from a section of hair you will be working with and repeat the same drying steps. When you get to the back of the head, you can cheat a bit and take slightly larger sections underneath.

Once you’re done with all the sections, simply put the dryer on the low setting and run it through your hair to make sure there are no wet spots on your hair.
If you still notice some frizz, simply reapply a small amount of product to help smooth. It can be the same serum you put on before, or it can be any kind of smoothing product.
