Less is more: why and how to keep your trade show booth clean and tidy during a convention

Anyone who has operated a trade show at more than a few conventions knows how difficult it is to keep a particularly clean unit, let alone tidy. Visitors seem to have a knack for causing mayhem, scavenging in the dirt, and leaving a mass of crumpled brochures in their wake. Unfortunately, those same visitors expect to find every trade show booth immaculate when they enter, and every speck of dust detracts from their opinion of your company and their attention to your product. Keeping a clean booth will always create a positive impression of your company; Plus, it’s a great way to stand out from all the other companies with dirty screens.

You may have to do some work to achieve that distinction and cleanliness. The key to success here is to make sure your unit is clean, but never let it look like you have staff working to clean it. There are many ways to achieve this, some easier and less expensive than others.

The basics of cleaning

Regardless of how you ultimately decide to maintain a clean environment during the convention, there are some basic steps you’ll need to take to help those responsible for cleaning. First, make sure all literature has a clearly defined storage area. If you prefer, there are several ways to incorporate storage into your trade display, but you can also easily place bins behind or to the side of your unit to store what’s needed. Literature should always have backup copies, but they should not be published all at once. By holding back a bit, you help reduce overall clutter and clutter.

In addition, there should be a central, easily accessible location for all recycling and trash. Ideally, this should be somewhere out of sight of visitors, as they don’t want to see the cleaning process of your trade show booth, just the finished product. Plus, they can also try to use their receptacles if they’re in plain sight!

Option #1: Make a Clean Trade Show A Group Effort

This option is the easiest, as it requires almost no additional effort or additional financial commitment. Just instruct your current staff to keep an eye on the screen and pick up anything they find making it particularly dirty or dirty. You can’t get the mud and other small particles that can get on dirty shoes, but you can do a lot to make sure the whole area is presentable.

Option #2 – Bring an additional trade show booth staff member

This option will cost a bit more, but could have a higher reward in some situations. Here, you simply hire a specific member of staff with the intention that they spend most of their time cleaning and tidying things up. They should have a working knowledge of your business and be able to help with sales during particularly high times, but their focus should be on maintaining a clean and presentable appearance for the trade show display.

Whichever option you choose, having a clean trade show booth will tell customers and visitors that you care and are willing to put in the extra effort. The slight additional expense in time and money you will incur will be more than offset by the impression you will make on everyone who walks into your booth.
